Those who care for the children and families of Prince William County are deeply moved and troubled by this week's events in Pakistan. Our hearts and prayers go out to the victims, their familes, and loved ones.

Winter Break: December 22, 2014 – January 2, 2015
Students return to school January 5, 2015
1:1 Digital Device Learning Initiative
SJHS will be implementing the 1:1 Digital Device Learning Initiative in January 2015 that will enable all 9th and 10th grade students to receive a personal tablet for use during the school year. To receive their tablet, there is an annual $40 take-home digital device user fee and parents/guardians must complete the "Digital Device Student Loan Agreement" form. Parent meetings will be held for parents to learn about these devices, recieve handbooks, and to submit forms and user fees. Devices will be distributed through Physical Education classes beginning January 21, 2015 to students who have met the above requirements. Parent meeting dates are scheduled as follows but please be aware that these meetings may be adjusted as needed for inclement weather:
  • Saturday, January 10th - 10 AM
  • Tuesday, January 13th - 9 AM
  • Wednesday, January 14th - 3 PM
  • Wednesday, January 14th - 7 PM
For more information about the 1:1 Digital Device Learning Initiative, please visit the county webpage.
Library Book Tree
Get in the holiday spirit by visiting the library to participate in our library book tree holiday project! Now thru January 9, a holiday tree will be placed in the library with paper ornaments that lists book needs of the library (books chosen by students and faculty).  We ask that students, faculty, and staff help us by taking an ornament and purchasing the named book. The books should be brought back to the library and then can be dedicated to any person of your choosing – family members, friends, graduating seniors, etc… It’s your chance to leave a legacy here at Stonewall and in a very small way to give back a LOT this season!
Planning Ahead
It's already time to start thinking about courses for next school year. Click here for the form that lists all available classes here at Stonewall Jackson.
A Special Thank You
Thank you to all who have been contributing to the library book tree project!  We have collected over 20 books so far, and are so grateful for the support and participation of the school and community.  A very special thank you to the Laird family for their generosity in supporting this endeavor.  This morning, they donated seven new books for our students. We are overwhelmed by your kindness.
Shop and Support SJHS Band
If you do any online shopping for the holiday season, there's an easy way to support the SJHS Band Program at the same time!  Simply go on to our band website, http://www.sjhsbands.org and click on the Amazon.com link on the homepage and do all your shopping after that. A portion of the sale will come right back to the band at no extra cost to you! Feel free to spread the word to any family, friends, and anyone else in the community. Have a great Thanksgiving!

Yearbook Baby Photos
Parents of Stonewall Seniors: It is that time of year when you can buy a spot in the yearbook to place a baby picture(s) of your senior student with a short message from you. Spots are limited and are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so make sure you reserve your spot today.  All of the information and forms needed to submit this keepsake can be found here. Baby Ad forms and payments need to be completed by Friday, December 19th at the latest, so get yours in early to avoid not being able to leave a lasting memory for your senior. For more information, email hydegm@pwcs.edu.
PEP Class
SJHS would like to invite our parents to PEP class (Parents as Educational Partners) for this year. Through PEP class, Stonewall helps our parents to learn about the U.S.A. school system, to learn English and also to learn computer skills.  These skills help our parents in their personal daily life as well as to find and retain jobs.  It also assists parents to develop and establish good relationships with their children, the school and the community at large. PEP classes are FREE. They are open to all our parents.  FREE childcare is provided during class hours. The class meets from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM every Tuesday and Thursday at Stonewall Jackson High School. Please note that there will be no PEP classes on the following dates: Tuesday, 11/11/14; and Thursday, 11/27/14. For more information please contact Mrs. Mensah at 703-365-2900.
